Work hurts.

Work sucks.

Most days I come home and I just sit here like a zombie for a few minutes like I'm trying to wake up from the temporary stupor that my job put me in. Thankfully, my wife is good to me and gives me time to de-frag from a long, long day.

Speaking of, she is leaving for St. Pete tomorrow, which means that I'll have the house to myself for the weekend. I'm going to miss her, but I'm going to enjoy it at the same time. I'm seriously considering ordering in from my favorite Chinese joint and just having a nice quiet evening at home playing WoW. That sounds like fun, actually.

I was considering having a few beers with my buddies, but why do that when you can have Chinese take out and World of Warcraft? It seems like I read somewhere that you have a problem when put off social gatherings for games. Which is something that I've never done before.

It's possible that the beers wouldn't pan out anyhow, but in all likelihood, it'll depend on how I'm feeling around 3pm tomorrow.

Date Night

Tonight was interesting.

We watched "Date Night" tonight in a pseudo-date-night fashion. Our nights usually consist of dinner after I've came home from work and we kind of do our own thing for the rest of the night. There will be the sporadic kiss/hug and then we go back to doing whatever it was that we were doing.

We decided on pizza and an on-demand movie tonight. Date Night was the movie of choice, and I have to say it was nice. The movie started off about a married couple that were basically stuck in the married couple routine. At first I was somewhat unsure about the movie. I was thinking Oh, great. Let's point out all the boring part of married life.

But it turned out to be a pretty funny movie. Steve Carrel and Tina Fey are a riot. I'll leave it at that for anyone that hasn't seen it.

I was uncomfortable about it at first because it really does point out the fact that marriage requires work to keep things at least somewhat interesting. Otherwise you become really good roommates. This part is particularly scary for me because while me and Janean (my wife) are passionately in love, we live so harmoniously together that it can feel like a really awesome roommate situation.

As corny and trite as it sounds, she really is my best friend. She puts up with me. I've never been happier to share my living space with someone.

The House that Jack Built

It's 2012.

At this point we've all had our fill of celebration and post-celebration rest. Back to work. Back to business. Back to taking care of that which needs taken care of.

There are a few changes coming my way, and not because it's a new year. That card has already been played and is now out-of-hand.

I'm easily distracted. Even as I type this, with a specific point in mind, I've went over to Facebook to check my new feed. This is common, regardless of the point or the goal. This type of behavior must end. I need to focus on the goal. I need to make my points with more concision and less ramble. Perhaps even a bit less wordy. (Fuck you, I like being wordy)

Again, this came about not as a New Year's Resolution, but rather a conversation that I was having with my close friend John Wallace. He was telling me the backstory behind the song "Laterallus" by Tool. The song is about controlling our lives. To focus on the important and to reject the trivial. I really love the sound of that.

Additionally. I'm a fat man. I need to loose weight. Seriously. I haven't been able to put very much weight on my knee today. I don't know what I've done but I'm almost certain that it's related to my weight.

My body, my temple. This temple that tilts. Yes, this is the House that Jack built.

I swear I haven't ditched LJ.

Things just haven't been up to snuff. Kind of "bleh".

So, my last real up date, we were on our way to the Tampa Bay area for Thanksgiving. Had a blast as always. That was also the busiest time of year for my office so things have been nuts at work.

Things are starting to calm down. People who were hired only for that project have since left. Sadly, my wife being one of them. At the moment, the sense of normalcy is on the back-burner until after the holidays. Everyone is taking time off, both at my office and with our client.

I think that it's interesting because this is the one time of the year that delay is both accepted and expected. I'm also waiting on word for the possibility of a short week this week. The governor has given the state workers Friday off. Since my job is in direct correlation with the state workers, I'm hoping for a short week too.

I don't know what I'll do with Friday off, but I'll fucking figure it out.

I swear I haven't been intentionally neglecting my LJ. Last week was nuts, and I think that I was in a bit of a funk too.

My holidays are usually followed by a solid week of funk.

This weekend was busy yet boring. I suppose it could be said that we got stuff done. My man cave is steps closer to being complete with the addition of cable TV. I'm thinking that I might be able to get a mini-fridge in a few weeks. There's a dead-dryer in my man cave serving as a TV stand.

Pics to come in the up-coming weeks.

First post via the LJ App on my phone! Perhaps this will be easier than the last time.

I'm mostly posting because I just realized that the football season is coming close to being over.

In my eyes the college football season is over. The Noles might play in a small bowl game, but UT won't really matter.  No ACC championship.  No National Title. Season over.

NFL still has a few more weeks left before the playoffs.

I'm really fucking excited because my cable box for the TV in my man cave should be in before this weekend,  which means that I'll be able to watch football from my deskchair while playing WoW or screwing around online.

Speaking of, I've recently found that I really like vlogs. I follow mostly beer and gaming vlogs.

Did I mention that I went fishing last weekend?  It was a lot fun. I fed a lot of fish but I caught 10-12 , too.

mid trip blog post!

Blog posting from the mothafuckin interstate. Janean's driving. I'm currently on I-75 just north of Tampa en route to St. Petersburg. E

Ever look through the back window of an SUV you're passing to see what movie their children are watching? One set of kids was watching Scooby Doo. I thought it was cute. Creepy, huh? lol

I'm going to end this here because no matter how smart your smart phone is, it is kind of hard to text while mobile.

Happy Thanksgiving guys!!

Great, great fucking news.

My wife Janean has been working with me at my company as a temp and they offered to hire her full-time, today. This is great because with both of us working this job, we're okay financially.

Hello, new computer. Hello respectable man-cave! You aint your shoes and you aint your fucking khakis, but I like having nice stuff, especially for comfort and entertainment purposes.

I bought a good computer chair and a 20inch TV over the weekend. (The TV is really more for NFL Sundays) Next on my list is a mini-fridge to keep beer stocked. The possibilities are very exciting.

The point to all this is that we're at a very fortunate time in our lives. I'm very thankful for what we have and for the people who have helped us get to where we are, because believe me, we've had help. Loads.

Life is good today.

Last night-she said

Blog post for the sake of blogging!

I really truly have nothing to write about, but it seems like every time I say that, I end up with a somewhat respectable blog post. We'll see how that goes.

As stated in my profile, I'm a pseudo HR person. Today was our last day for Open Enrollment (for Health insurance and such). It is hands down the busiest time of the year for my office, and I fucking hurt. But, at least I'm done wiping asses for the weekend. There will surely be a few that are all butt hurt Monday morning, but they'll just have to fucking deal with it. Because my give-a-fuck got flushed down the toilet at 5:30pm today.

Craig Ferguson was in town today! I'm so mad that I couldn't see him. Today was Florida State's annual Pow-Wow Homecoming thing. That's one Scot that I'd love to drink a beer with.

I'm really super excited because I really really think that I just might be able to get me a cheap computer chair and smallish TV from Goodwill this weekend. The chair that I have is old a fuck and just about to collapse under my weight. The TV is necessary so that I can watch football in my office while playing WoW and such without disturbing my wife. I'm going to troll craigslist first to see if I can find a steal.

My office really needs an overhaul.

New profile info!

Holy crap, I'm tired!

LJ Profile- Done! I thought it to be a good idea to put some effort and thought into it. I totally forgot how much effort and time it takes to put together a respectable LJ profile. Between the flavor of the text to finding the right pics for a collage and piecing them together just so, I'm pooped.

I would like to thank Google for it's Picasa photo editing software. I'm certain that it's not as "holy shit bad ass" as Photobucket- but it was free and it did what I needed it to do.

Man, I'm glad that's done. I stayed up way too late last night screwing around on El-Jay. I think I'm going to go-ahead and catch that night train while it's still night.

Tomorrow's Wednesday. I'm not overly excited, but I'm glad to be that much closer to the weekend. We're headed to my mother's house for my sister-in-law's baby shower. Guys aren't supposed to go to these but I'm being told that it's not "that" kind of baby shower. Such is remaining to be seen.

"I'm not going to be like that guy" -Those commercials crack me up.
